Hopes, Dreams & Art

By Nikki Brown, Art & Photography Blogger    Vincent van Gogh (1889) “The Starry Night”    Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Her words still resonate today, and I’m reminded that having hopes and dreams is more important than ever, especially for future generations.   “Big Bird Tail” by Sofie Boersting.   Children are the world’s greatest dreamers. If all of us remembered what it was like to be a child, we would have a far more peaceful planet. I recently took some time to speak with my younger sister and think back on our childhood dreams. I recall wanting to live in a lighthouse on the beach,...

Traveling Through Art

By Nikki Brown, Art & Photography Blogger Growing up in Michigan, early March is still mid-winter. My mom was classy and elegant, so I was messy and bohemian. My mom’s colors were white, cream, and taupe, so mine were crimson, teal, and gold. To her credit, my mom was never dismissive and always respected my bold choices. Now that I’m older, I find myself drawn to her taste. I appreciate the way subtle cream and white palates allow for bright colors and intricate patterns to pop, and I’ve begun to incorporate many of my mom’s design tips into my own decorating. I was...

OSCAR & NiQOO: "The Revenant" Movie, A Wall-art For Your Living Room

As a movie fan, I was impatiently looking forward to the release date of The Revenant. The movie was directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, which I have always adored for his great movies from Amores Peros to Birdman and also Leonardo DiCaprio played the leading role who proved that he is carefully choosing the movies he is going to act in. After I watched the movie, I learned that my excitement was not unreasonable and it was definitely worth watching. However, while I still enjoyed the movie very much, I had a different experience than what I was expecting and it kind of opened up a new door to the magic of cinema to me. Before I start talking about my experience and...
